Does Aventura Florida recycle?

Going Green, From the City of Aventura Out to the World

I think it’s important, not to say vital, to get the message of this Conscious Recycling vflyer out in every city of the United States. But since the work starts in our own backyard and extends around the world, then we ought to look for ways through which we can reduce global warming pollution right where we are. One simple and immediate action we can take is to recycle more.

We can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide per year by recycling half of our household waste. There are over 10,000 apartment and condominium buildings in Miami-Dade County, many of which are in Aventura. Some sources cite that the city was named "Aventura" because that was the name of the original group of condominium developments in the area. So I envision the city of Aventura becoming by the end of 2008 a pioneer on providing recycling programs to some of the Miami-Dade area's tallest and most prestigious condominium towers.

Miami-Dade is still on its nascent stage when it comes to providing recycling programs for condominiums and businesses so if taken purposefully and done with the same sense of urgency the issue calls for, Aventura could take a lead on that arena, and why not in the near future become the city in South Florida to which other cities come for consultation on Green Initiatives to learn best practices on how to engage its entire community in conscious recycling. But as actions speak louder than words, let’s make it happen working together, citizens and government of Aventura collaborating with one another with a common objective of creating a greener more sustainable community… and as a consequence, a greener world!

I always wondered that myself. It is very disappointing that there seems to be no where in Aventura that we can recycle at. I moved here from Boca Raton and had such a hard time getting use putting paper, aluminum and plastic in the garbage instead of recycling. People need to wake up!

I have lived in different areas of FL for 6 years now and have been so disappointed in not being able to recycle. I recently moved to Aventura from Davie and I am sad to find that the nearest recycling is still in Davie. So if anyone is like me and just cant throw away those bottles and cans there is a place to recycle in Davie off of Pine Island Rd. Hopefully this situation will change sooner than later.

I'm still trying to figure out why the dumpster at my condo has the 3-arrow recycling logo when we all know nothing is recycled when mixed with garbage. It is getting a little old to carry in the cans and the glass bottles/jars into Whole Foods. When I lived in Vegas, the Whole Foods had large recycling containers on their sidewalk - so convenient (when there's no recycling in your building). I can't even find a place that recycles the plastic bags closer than the Super Wal-Mart on 163rd. How can this be called the "City of Excellence"? More like the City of Excess - let's minimize our footprint on the earth & get greener & cleaner.

This is for the person who thinks that your nearest recycling location is in Davie. There is no need for you to drive all the way over there. There is a recycling location in Hallandale. Go to US1 make a right (heading north)go to hallandale beach blvd east all the way to three island drive I believe it is. It's the corner where you turn to go into walmart. Go through that gate and keep on going straight. There is a park located on your right a few blocks away from the gate. They have recycling bins there. When I found it I thought I was in heaven!! Hope this works for those of you near Aventura!!

There is no longer a recycling facility in HALLANDALE open to the public. The city of Hallandale now wants everyone to recycle on their own. So you might have to drive to Davie or check out City of Fort Lauderdale Facilities
220 SW 14th Avenue. Google search Fort Lauderdale Hungry Green Dumpster - you can drop off mixed paper and cardboard. But they want their own residents to use these services. I hope Aventura recycles soon but its always a cost and supply & demand issue. If recycling was convenient for the city and county then the market prices for recycled goods/waste removal would have made it easier to participate.
