Golf Course in Aventura

Get in shape and back on track. The golf course in Aventura is surrounded by a path used by runners, walkers, dogs, baby strollers, cyclists, roller bladers, and even the archaic roller skaters. This is the most popular exercise destination in Aventura. I'm an advocate for getting out in the fresh air and taking in the rays. It's the best way to exercise in Aventura.

Everyone who lives in Aventura is likely aware of this location, it's referred to as "the circle." I haven't measured the distance of one full go around, but I've been told it's three (3) miles. That's a perfect distance to get a nice workout. If you're not familiar with this track, drive to Country Club Drive and you'll see all shapes and sizes enjoying the circle. Some go with a group and others go alone. I've been told it's a great place to meet singles.

The summer is a perfect time to get in shape and hit the track. If you thought about joining a gym, spa, or elite fitness club in Aventura then the circle is for you. Keep it simple and save your cash.

Let's take advantage of the few amenities the City of Aventura provides us, especially the space that's set aside for outdoor recreation. Where there's empty land there's always some developer that has a vision of transforming it into a shopping center, gas station, condo, or some other type of commercial structure, with no regard for the importance of empty space inside a city. That's why it's vital that we use this space and voice its value to our friends.

I know you've been thinking about taking that stroll or jog around the golf course. Hope to see you there.

Atlantic One at The Point Aventura Florida

There are many luxury condos in Aventura, Florida 33180. One of the most exclusive and luxurious buildings is Atlantic One at The Point. It's a privilege to be able to live in an apartment at Atlantic One. This building is located near the Waterways shops and restaurants. The address is 21200 Point Place Aventura, Fl. 33180. Atlantic One at the Point is a perfect condo community for anyone seeking a lifestyle above the rest.

The best way to decide if this is the place for you is to search the condos for sale at Atlantic One at The Point. You will get an idea of prices and views - the views are amazing. There are rentals in Atlantic One at The Point and many rent at Atlantic One to make sure the condo community is perfect for them.

The residents selling a condo in Atlantic One at The Point usually are selling their condo to downsize or they're moving from Aventura, Florida. Rarely does anyone put their condos for sale at Atlantic One because they don't like living there anymore. That's what makes Atlantic One a condo with stable residents that form a community, because people love living at Atlantic One The Point. Ask any realtor or real estate broker working with the buyers, sellers, and renters in Atlantic One and they tell you that this is a great place to call home.

George Carlin Remembered

This morning I woke up to sadly discover that the great comedian George Carlin passed away last night, he was 71. He was one of the most influential comics and a genius with words. Carlin had a perfect delivery that was able to take his audience on a roller coaster ride of laughter.

George Carlin was not only carving new joke premises and original structure, but he was also responsible for challenging America's concept of what is considered obscene. He was the topic of a Supreme Court case - FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION v. PACIFICA FOUNDATION, 438 U.S. 726, 98 S.Ct. 3026 (1978). He has an act known in short as "Seven Words," a brilliant word play.

I found this YouTube video of George Carlin performing his historic act. I believe this is the piece that George would like all of us to remember.

South Florida Music

The local music scene in Aventura Florida is seriously lacking. We need a regular venue to host musicians. How about Founders Park? A place for artists and hipsters to express themselves and create in public. Despite the weak scene, the area has produced some incredible musical talent. Maybe there's something in the water?

Joe Lederman, musician and blogger on Music Binds Us All , has roots in the Aventura area. He currently resides in Orlando, Fl and is the drummer in The Dropa Stone.

"The trio prides itself on continuing to evolve their live shows with tons of improvisation, extended jams and collaborations with their favorite local musicians."

"On Saturday June 14th, 2008, The Dropa Stone held its long awaited CD Release Show and played an inspired hour long set. To check out a superb rendition of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir, watch the video below:" -from Joe's blog article about The Dropa Stone

There have been many readers of this blog that feel compelled to comment on articles. Many have contacted me regarding our comment feature. BATTLE OF THE BAGEL

Battle of the Bagel

The bagel is the Holy Grail of Jewish cuisine. This circular shield shaped food is a Jewish medallion that would be worn around the necks of Jewish men if only their wives would approve. Rumor has it there's a local man that wears a gold bagel on a chain, he drives a 1983 Buick Regal, wears Member Only jackets, and recently got really bad hair implants. He's the maven on bagels in Florida. Well, forget this bagel guru. I say, "bring the bagels to the people and let them decide." That's how Battle of the Bagel was born. It will be a true measure of water, flour, yeast, poppy and sesame.

There are a few locations to get a great bagel in Aventura, Florida. Many residents in Aventura appreciate the art of making a good bagel and love their bagel shops. After years of eating in these restaurants it became obvious that customers are very loyal to their particular restaurant and swear it's the only place to get a "real bagel."

There are several spots you can get a good bagel in Aventura; however, I've decided it only comes down to two locations for an authentic bagel deli experience. You know the type of place, the kind that serves a fantastic bagel in addition to eggs, hash browns, matzoh ball soup, corned beef sandwiches, a killer cup of coffee, and every type of cookie and cake you can imagine. The type of place that serves matzah brei all year long. The two restaurants are Bagel Cove and Moe's Bagels. I included Einstein Bros. Bagels in the poll as a wild card (photo not available at this time).

Moe's Bagels
2780 Northeast 187th Street
Aventura, FL 33180
305-936-8555

Bagel Cove
19003 Biscayne Blvd
Aventura,FL 33180
305-935-4029

Einstein Bros. Bagels
18815 Biscayne Blvd
Aventura, FL 33180
305-682-9080

I know many Aventura residents have deep rooted beliefs regarding who serves the best bagel. The only way to settle this matter is to have a vote. Please vote and pass it on. In one month we'll know who has the Greatest Bagel in 33180. Feel free to leave a comment by clicking the comment icon in the top right corner of the poll box.

Summer 2008 What's Your Plan?

Mom, I‘m Bored, What Do I Do?

As the summer months are approaching and schools are closing for the summer vacation, families are struggling with “what to do this summer”. Gas is expensive and funds are not always available. Moms are just waiting to hear those proverbial words “I’m bored, what are we going to do”? Those are the same words that kids have spoken for many years, and as grandparents are wont to say “your children should only be like you, so you will see what it is like”. Those may be the truest words spoken, albeit not meant in a threatening manner but one of “you will get yours some day”. So, what do we do this summer? How could we keep the kids busy, out of mom’s hair, yet doing things that they will like and be educational?

Some of the things we could do are:

Check out the museums- they have summer schedules just for kids and set up special exhibits that kids will enjoy and participate in;

Check out the local zoos- they also have schedules and shows conducive to children’s learning. They know how to keep the kids entertained and for how long.

Check out the movies – they schedule movies for kids during the early morning hours which give you afternoons to plan for.

Check out the water parks which are geared for not only kid fun but for family enjoyment.

If you happen to have a pool, first make sure all your kids and neighbor’s kids are “drown proofed’ which means that all the kids know how to swim, have had lessons, and know what to do in case of an emergency . Then once done, create some pool games or facilitate safe pool activities. Remember, to always have an adult present when kids are in the pool, which means that an adult is in the immediate pool area and sees everything that is happening. When finished, close the pool gate, so no one can get back in when your back is turned.

Other water games may use buckets, the hose, or for “older kids” water balloons.
Other ideas include gardening or planting vegetables or plants which the kids could measure and watch grow. It’s nice to be able to show something that was small and then got bigger. .

You can always invite your children’s friends over, have board games or just allow the kids to play in the back yard. Again remember, to always keep an eye on your children, because you never know where they can go to or what they can do, when you are not available.

Cooking or baking is another area where kids and adults can have fun. Too many parents never allow the children into the kitchen or made cooking so difficult or negative that kids who have become adults have no idea of how to navigate the kitchen. We need to make cooking and baking fun, for all to enjoy. Yes mom, cooking and baking can be enjoyable.

Parents can look at websites or at the internet to get any number of ideas of what to do this summer. Hopefully, you will miss the “Mommy, I’m bored” response and hear the Mom, I’m tired.

Have a safe, educational and wonderful summer.
