Nordstrom Aventura Mall

Today Nordstrom is open in Aventura Mall. Many Aventura residents have been waiting for this day since it was announced that Nordstrom Aventura was planned to open. This is the new hotspot in Aventura and this weekend it will likely be packed with shoppers. The Sun Sentinel ran a great article about the new Aventura Nordstrom location.

Here's a excerpt from that article...

Store amenities include an in-house tailor shop, shoeshine stand, personal shopping services, coffee bar and light-fare bistro. The Nordstrom Aventura also has a few unique characteristics not found at the chain's other area locations such as beauty department boutiques by Japanese cosmetic retailer Shu Uemura and Chanel. Shoe fanatics will notice collections by designers such as Jimmy Choo, Dolce & Gabbana, Manolo Blahnik, Prada and others. And luxury shoppers will find brands including Burberry, Burberry Prorsum, Jean Paul Gaultier and Versace.

"We're so looking forward to opening Friday," said Nordstrom spokesman John Bailey. "Our goal is to open stores in the best markets and the best locations, and Aventura Mall is definitely one of those places."

I agree with the statement of John Bailey; however, it's just a nicer way to say, "we're in business to make a profit." Look around the Aventura Mall and you'll see so much open space that is now utilized for parking lots. I think that's just going to be developed like Nordstrom once the Nordstrom craze ends. There are many department stores that have still not hit the Aventura Mall and there's room for more - Saks Fifth Avenue is just one name.

The article continued to say...

The whole philosophy of the mall is to have different things for different people," said Turnberry Associates Founder and Managing Partner Donald Soffer. Since the mall opened in spring 1983, Soffer added, "We've created a magnet for people of every lifestyle."

The Nordstrom wing will host several tenants who are opening up sprawling "flagship" stores that enable them to carry more exclusive lines. For example, coming soon are a 30,000-square-foot Forever XXI store, which sells fashion to young adults, and a Calvin Klein "white label" store with more than 10,000-square-feet of clothing and accessories.

Gilly Hicks, the new Abercrombie & Fitch store concept, will have its first South Florida store there, as will Ferrari and Hugo Boss. Coming to the United States for the first time, according to mall officials, are Astoria, and La Martina, which sell women's and men's apparel. The wing also includes an Equinox fitness center and Ocean Prime, a fine-dining restaurant.

Aventura Mall celebrates its 25th anniversary of business in April, and this year owners plan to add to the store roster 7 for all Mankind, Cut & Sew by Marc Ecko, and Karen Millen of England — all of which are new to South Florida — as well as other popular brands such as Kate Spade, Hollister and Oakley. Both Apple and Koko & Palenki are planning expansions this year. And The Grill on the Alley, a fine-dining establishment from Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, will open its first South Florida location at the mall.

I think the Nordstrom in the Aventura Mall is a complete waste. The last thing this city needs is another overpriced shopping destination. Let's see a library built or an oprea house, some culture people!

This place is awesome and the customer service is top-notch. When I go shopping at this Nordstrom I always feel pampered!
